Human trafficking doesn’t happen far away. It happens in our neighborhoods, schools, and communities. In Washington, D.C., people of all ages and genders are exploited every day—often in ways that go unnoticed.
Trafficking preys on vulnerable populations—including low-income individuals, unhoused youth, survivors of domestic violence, disabled individuals, and other marginalized communities. The barriers they face are heartbreaking: no safe place to sleep, no one they can trust, and no path forward.
And when they finally find the courage to reach out for help, most organizations have nothing immediately available.
We’ve walked alongside survivors for over two decades.
FAIR Girls was founded in 2003 on a simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves safety, opportunity, and a chance to thrive.
Guided by this steadfast belief, we stand beside survivors through some of the hardest moments of their lives, meeting them where they are, offering safety, dignity, and the tools to build lives free from exploitation. Today, we are Washington, D.C.’s only provider of both emergency and transitional housing for survivors of human trafficking.
We don’t just understand the crisis. We show up for it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When survivors find the courage to reach out, FAIR Girls is already there, ready to walk with them toward healing and freedom.

Comprehensive care at every step of the journey
Residential Housing
A secure, supportive home for survivors including those with children. Our housing offers trauma-informed care, life-skills development, and a foundation for lasting healing.
Case Management
Every survivor receives a dedicated case manager who builds an individualized plan — from crisis response to long-term goals like education, employment, and safe housing.
Drop-In Center
A welcoming daytime space where survivors access peer support, workforce development, financial literacy, and critical services — all in an environment they trust.
Prevention Education
We equip youth, families, and professionals across D.C. to recognize warning signs and respond effectively — closing the on-ramps to trafficking before exploitation begins.
