Devyn Brown

Devyn has always been passionate about advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Devyn’s emergence in human services began in 2012 at Silverado Senior Living San Diego, where she provided case management services to clients living with Dementia. Devyn continued to work in geriatrics where she developed numerous relationships with clients and community service organizations. Devyn’s interest in the continuum of care for her clients shifted her focus from a direct practice concentration to a focus on administration, community organizing and policy.

In 2016, while working with the San Diego County Office of Education- Juvenile Court Schools, Devyn developed and supervised a Social Work internship program, participated in Student Attendance Review Board Hearings and organized with community collaboratives to develop a web-base information management system to locate and navigate community resources for court involved youth. Devyn quickly noticed gaps in services for this population and her passion for policy reform and program management ignited.

After receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from San Diego State University, Devyn moved to Washington, D. C in 2018 to pursue her PhD in Social Work at Howard University. Living in Washington, D.C, Devyn continued to work with court involved youth through Sasha Bruce Youthworks where she worked as a Case Manager at Chloe House, a DYRS Residential Placement Center.
Devyn is a trainer of restorative practice and a certified grant writer. Focusing largely on outcomes and evidenced-based practices, Devyn developed interest in statistical analysis and quality assurance practices. Devyn’s passion strongly lies in criminal justice policies especially regarding re-entry planning among those eligible for Youthful Offender or Second Chance Acts.

Working at FAIR Girls as the Director or Programs, Devyn provides supportive services to the staff, collaborates with community services providers to create partnerships and manages grant writing and reporting. Devyn continues to work from a strength-based perspective, while focusing on evidenced based practices and evaluating outcome measures.
In her free time, Devyn enjoys being with her family and her dachshund King Louie. Keeping aligned with Californian culture, Devyn enjoys spending days at the beach and participating in a variety of water sports to include kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling.
